Relational · contact playbook (step-by-step)

Before you talk (2 minutes)

  • Know your one ask (volunteer, event, relational intros).
  • Bring two time-bound options (“Tuesday phone bank intro” vs “Saturday coffee”).

During the conversation — LISTEN framework (internal mnemonic)

  • Listen first — confirm what they care about.
  • Inform accurately — no unsourced process claims.
  • Story short — one human example, local if possible.
  • Transition — connect values to the ask.
  • Engage consent — “Would it be okay if I followed up Thursday?”
  • Next step literal — calendared, not vague.

After the conversation (3 minutes)

  • Log date + outcome bucket (supportive / curious / opposed / follow-up).
  • Schedule the follow-up before you chat with the next person.
  • If sensitive, route to campaign coordinator privately.

Weekly Power of 5 sprint (60 minutes team time, can be split)

  • Each person completes 5 intentional conversations.
  • Team produces 5 introduced connectors for the next week (warm intros, not cold spam).

When someone is hostile or unsafe

  • Thank, leave, do not engage. Report patterns to HQ if needed.
