Faith community visits — respectful coordination
Goal: When feasible, build toward a church, synagogue, or mosque visit on many weekends — always by invitation, never as a surprise extraction.
Checklist (track in Events pipeline)
- Faith leader identified (correct title / spelling).
- Contact made through trusted introducer when possible.
- Visit requested with clear purpose and duration.
- Scheduled with dress / protocol notes.
- Follow-up completed (thank-you; any promises logged).
Principles
- Listen more than you speak in someone else’s sacred space.
- Do not treat worship as a photo backdrop without explicit permission.
- Escalate interfaith sensitivities to HQ; volunteers do not litigate theology in the parking lot.
- Registration and partisan asks stay outside worship unless leadership explicitly welcomes them.
Preparation
- Confirm arrival time vs. public service time (some visits are office hours only).
- Brief Kelly/surrogate on local history of the congregation — avoid blunders.
- Offer service project or supply drive partnerships when aligned (no quid pro quo).
Script — initial request (email / call outline)
“I’m [name], volunteering with [campaign]. We’d be honored to visit briefly to introduce ourselves and listen — on your terms and timing. If a conversation with [Kelly / surrogate works better outside service, we’re grateful either way.”
What good looks like
- Leaders feel respected, not mined for lists.
- Follow-up is prompt and honest — if we promised a resource, it ships.
Automation note
Use event type MEETING (or APPEARANCE if structured as public forum) with campaignIntent vos_faith_community_visit for reminder tasks.
