Why I’m Running for Arkansas Secretary of State

I’m running because Regnat Populus — “The People Rule” — isn’t a slogan. It’s a covenant between Arkansans and their government.

This office exists to protect that covenant: to ensure every citizen can vote, petition, and see how their government works. When politics takes over, people lose power. I intend to give that power back.

The Secretary of State’s office should be transparent, nonpartisan, and people-centered. It should teach, not hide. Open doors, not close them. And it should belong to everyone — rural or urban, black, white, Republican, Democrat, or Independent.

That belief comes from the legacy of Winthrop Rockefeller, who proved Arkansas can be both principled and practical — that light and decency heal more than noise and division ever will.

I’ve spent years in civic education, helping Arkansans understand how power works and how to use it. I’ve seen farmers, students, and parents light up when they realize they can shape what happens at City Hall or the Capitol. That spark — that moment when people see their own power — is what democracy looks like.

Too many Arkansans have been left out for too long. Civic engagement can’t wait for calmer times — the urgency is now. My goal is to rebuild trust in the process and remind every Arkansan that they already have the power to shape what happens here.

I’m running to protect the integrity of our elections and defend every Arkansan’s right to vote. I’ll fight for secure, accessible elections, safeguard the citizen-led ballot initiative process, and make doing business with the state simple, fair, and transparent.

Fighting doesn’t mean fueling division. It means standing firm, using diplomacy, and finding common ground to protect what belongs to all of us — the people’s power.

Regnat Populus. The People Rule.

It’s time we made that true again.
